NONPROFIT MONTGOMERY TO HOST PAUL MONTEIRO, SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SERVICE AND CIVIC INNOVATION, AND KEY STAKEHOLDERS NEXT WEEK

Rockville, MD – Nonprofit Montgomery will be hosting a listening session for Maryland’s Secretary of the Department of Service and Civic Innovation, Paul Monteiro. Monteiro will have the opportunity to hear from nonprofit leaders and students from the John F. Kennedy High School Leadership Training Institute who supported the SERVE ACT legislation, Governor Moore’s “service year option,” earlier this year.

The students and nonprofit leaders representing SGAP Leaders, the Student Conservation Association, Inc. National Capital Region, Service Year Alliance, and the Association for Student Conduct Administration will engage in a dialogue and provide recommendations regarding the implementation of Maryland’s service year program.

The Department of Service and Civic Innovation plans to launch the first cohort of this program this fall with at least 200 participants, expanding to 2,000 over the next four years. Participants will be paid $15/hour during their service job training and mentorship.

City of Gaithersburg 
Mental Health Support for Youth Grant

The City of Gaithersburg is seeking not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) agencies in the Gaithersburg area to apply for FY24 Mental Health Support for Youth Grant. FNS SNAP E&T National Partnership Grants

FNS intends to make available in fiscal year (FY) 2022 approximately $3 million to non-profit organizations with large networks of community colleges or consortia of community colleges with experience providing workforce development services to low-income and low-skilled individuals, including SNAP participants. Grant funds will be used to support new organizational capacity to provide network or consortia members training and other technical assistance so that network or consortia members may become third-party SNAP E&T providers. Click here for more information.
