About the Opportunity:

The Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse (JCADA) is looking for a dynamic professional to advance the fundraising and communication needs of the gender-based organization, with a focus on growing the base of major gift donors, soliciting high net worth individuals in the Greater Washington area, and implementing a comprehensive communications plan that shares the story of this extraordinary organization.Reporting to the Executive Director and working in partnership with the Board of Directors and Assistant Director, the position requires a high performing development and communications professional capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-growth, collaborative organization. The Director of Development and Communications must also have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to work effectively across organizational and functional boundaries.

Key responsibilities Include:
Setting the vision and strategy to realize and exceed the annual development goals through individual gifts, foundation, corporation, and government grants, and events

Leading and managing all major gift fundraising; cultivate and steward donors, providing an exceptional donor and board member experience that enhances giving, attracts new supporters to JCADA’s mission, and regularly engages donors in JCADA’s work and growth

Driving the identification of new mid-level and major gift donors as well as building strong relationships to bring them on board as regular, new donors to JCADA

Developing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns to promote the mission and programs of ​JCADA with an emphasis on:​ reaching new and diverse audiences​; growing ​JCADA’s effectiveness and influence​; ​enhancing understanding of and financial support for the organization’s work

​​Increasing the visibility of JCADA through these communications strategies across multiple platforms including the web, social media, print and digital publications, and other public relations vehicles

Managing the Events and Communications Coordinator and development and communications volunteers

Staying abreast of trends and best practices in database management, corporate and foundation relations and other related topics to help strategically position efforts and activities

Qualifications and Experience:

JCADA is seeking a confident manager, teammate, and savvy individual to lead its fundraising and communications efforts. You have strong relationship building skills and are a communications ace. You are a self-starter, are extremely goal-oriented, and can wisely manage your time, resources, staff, and projects to exceed your goals. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with like-minded individuals, and you are passionate about ending power-based violence in our community.

Able to maintain a sense of humor under stress (because JCADA takes its mission seriously, but also has fun)

Excellent interpersonal skills that can be used to work cooperatively with and to motivate the Board

Cooperative work style to ensure positive relationships with staff, executive director, board and community

Strong, written, and verbal communication skills

Confident using a computer and various software; experience with Sumac or a similar database is a plus.
