County Executive FY19 Budget Forums

Nonprofit leaders and staff, board members, and volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend these public forums on the county’s operating budget to share insight into community needs, and to hear the County Executive’s priorities. The County Executive will release his Recommended Operating Budget on March 15, 2017 for the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2018.

The meetings, which all begin at 7pm are on:

  • Rescheduled to February 6 – January 8 – Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, 4805 Edgemoor Ln., Bethesda
  • January 24 – Mid-County Community Center, 2004 Queensguard Rd., Silver Spring
  • January 29 –  BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Dr., Germantown
  • January 30 – Silver  Spring Civic Building, One Veterans Place, Silver Spring
  • January 31 – Eastern Montgomery Regional Services Center, 3300 Briggs Chaney Rd., Silver Spring

Stepping Stones Shelter’s New Executive Director

Stepping Stones Shelter named Stacey Gold Erd, MSW, LCSW-C, as its new Executive Director effective February 12. Stacey served for 12 years as the Executive Director of Beacon House. She also has served as a psychotherapist, providing mental health counseling to low income individuals, groups, families, couples, and children via Family Services, Inc., and her private practice.

Free Governance Legal Clinic for Nonprofits

The DC Bar Pro Bono Center is holding a free legal clinic to give nonprofits that provide supportive services to vulnerable populations, a governance checkup to ensure you are complying with IRS and DC legal policies and procedures. The clinic will have brief training on  corporate governance issues and organizations will meet with volunteer attorneys who will review your current governance policies and procedures. The clinic is on January 19 from 9:30am-12pm at DLA Piper (500 8th St. NW). Email Lauren Paley to register.

This workshop led by Tech Impact will help you turn your data into actionable information. Join us for a presentation on data systems and analysis. We will outline important considerations to make while searching for a new data system and implementing a chosen system. Then, we will demonstrate two of the leading data visualization tools accessible to nonprofit organizations.
