NBC’s Project Innovation Grant

The NBCUniversal Foundation launched Project Innovation, a grant program recognizing local nonprofits organizations that are leveraging technology to solve everyday problems. Grants of $225,000 will be given to nonprofits that are addressing local community issues in an innovative way. Grant categories include: Igniting Civic Engagement, Skills for the Digital Economy, and STEM/STEAM Youth Programming. Applications will be accepted until February 2.

A New Resource for Nonprofits: Skilled 50+ Volunteers – February 22

The Montgomery County Volunteer Center’s new 50+ Volunteer Network matches nonprofits needing assistance with highly skilled volunteers who have the right experience, interest, and availability. The 50+ Volunteer Network provides this free service to county nonprofits that may need organizational support, assistance with grantwriting, or direct services such as tutoring and teaching adult literacy.

Nonprofit Montgomery Advocacy Alert

Stay up to date on the Council’s progress on the FY18 Savings Plan and their preparation for the FY19 Operating Budget.

Here is the video from the January 16 Council discussion about the factors driving the cost of government, including revenue pressures, the impact of fiscal policy choices, and costs both inside and outside of the County’s control. The factors affecting these costs in the County include demographic trends, historical growth patterns, existing financial obligations, and budget choices. This discussion will provide context for the Council’s review of the Fiscal Year 2018 Savings Plan. This staff report provides important background.

Making your Data Make Sense with Tech Impact

This workshop led by Tech Impact will help you turn your data into actionable information. Join us for a presentation on data systems and analysis. We will outline important considerations to make while searching for a new data system and implementing a chosen system. Then, we will demonstrate two of the leading data visualization tools accessible to nonprofit organizations.
