It’s been ten years since Nonprofit Montgomery was born out of the Community Foundation from conversations about the need for nonprofit advocacy and capacity building in the County.
We celebrate a decade of impact and new milestones reached in 2018/2019, including:
In 2019, after several years under fiscal sponsorship, Nonprofit Montgomery obtained 501(c)(3) status and is now established as an independent nonprofit. And in two weeks we will celebrate a new office space and training facility as we move with Leadership Montgomery to the new Leadership Hub in Rockville.

Interfaith Works and Passion for Learning have been honored with the “Making a Difference” award from The Nonprofit Village. The award is presented to nonprofit organizations that demonstrate their ability to enact social change through collaboration and sustainable management practices. Congratulations!
Christy Kenady and Julie Riggs of EveryMind have been named Top Mental Health First Aid® (MHFA) Instructors for 2018 and will receive special recognition at the Instructor Summit in Nashville on March 24. This title is awarded to Mental Health First Aid instructors who taught 500 or more First Aiders during the 2018 calendar year as well as those who taught to specific audiences through MHFA modules. In 2018, Christy and Julie brought the MHFA Military and Veteran module to network providers and community partners in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Northern Virginia. Congratulations!

Nonprofit Montgomery member Montgomery History is hosting the Montgomery County History Conference to explore and celebrate the many facets of our past that shape our community to this day.This event is a day-long gathering includes workshops, presentations, and panel discussions covering a wide range of topics within the realm of local history. Crystal Townsend, President of Healthcare Initiative Foundation was awarded the 2019 Montgomery Women Rising Star Award. This award was established in 2005 to honor and memorialize the life of Phyllis Campbell Newsome, an activist and founding member of Montgomery Women. Montgomery Women presents the Rising Star Award annually to a woman who has shown leadership and the potential to make a significant contribution to the Montgomery County community.
WorkSource Montgomery is looking for a partner to launch its summer youth program. Organizations interested should submit Expressions of Interest by January 31. WorkSource Montgomery is also soliciting proposals for a contractor to provide One-Stop Operator services in Montgomery County under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Through this RFP, WSM has allocated a maximum of $200,000 for the vendor agreement.
The Nonprofit Village moved to a new incubation center in Rockville. The new 10,824 square foot center has larger office spaces, communal areas and modern amenities. Congratulations!
