Crystal Townsend Winner of Montgomery Women Rising Star Award

Crystal Townsend, President of Healthcare Initiative Foundation was awarded the 2019 Montgomery Women Rising Star Award. This award was established in 2005 to honor and memorialize the life of Phyllis Campbell Newsome, an activist and founding member of Montgomery Women. Montgomery Women presents the Rising Star Award annually to a woman who has shown leadership and the potential to make a significant contribution to the Montgomery County community.

We are entering the FY20 County budget season, and County Executive Elrich’s budget forums willbegin next week.

County Executive Marc Elrich is holding five community forums to gather feedback from the public on the FY20 operating budget.

We encourage all Nonprofit Montgomery members to attend. Also, invite your board members to attend and speak to the importance of the nonprofit sector. It is critical to have the voices of the nonprofit sector heard at all points of the budget process.

Suggested talking points:

  • Your organization and role (board member, ED, etc)
  • Identify yourself as a member of  Nonprofit Montgomery
  • Briefly say who you serve and why it’s important
  • Note that the County’s continued support for nonprofits is essential for a healthy, thriving community
  • Nonprofits provide services more efficiently and effectively and leverage county dollars to attract additional funding
  • Thank the County for their partnership.

WorkSource Montgomery In Search of Partner and RFP

WorkSource Montgomery is looking for a partner to launch its summer youth program. Organizations interested should submit Expressions of Interest by January 31. WorkSource Montgomery is also soliciting proposals for a contractor to provide One-Stop Operator services in Montgomery County under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Through this RFP, WSM has allocated a maximum of $200,000 for the vendor agreement.

The Washington English Center (WEC) offers affordable English classes and other workforce programs to low-income adult immigrants in the Greater DC area, taught by a corps of 350 trained volunteer teachers. Job Purpose and Duties: WEC’s Operations Manager will provide internal operations support to the Executive Director and Accountant. He/she will be responsible for overall office administration. Job responsibilities include: update and manage WEC’s fundraising database and assist with campaigns and events, provide bookkeeping support, coordinate HR and all scheduling for WEC’s staff of 10, manage procurement, maintain all corporate certifications and licenses, manage staff calendars and assist with communications to WEC’s Board of Directors.

Job Requirements:
● Strong computer skills with experience using online databases, MS Office products especially Excel spreadsheets, Google suites and shared calendar. Familiar with Quickbooks. Knowledge of Network for Good or similar database product.
● Have at least three years of experience as an Office Manager
● Past employment experience with non-profit organizations a plus
● Demonstrate the ability to be organized and work independently
● Maintain confidentiality with personal information
● Solid customer service, team work, and phone skills
● Speak Spanish or another official DC language preferred

Title: Part-Time School Mental Health Therapist Reports to: Director of School Mental Health Services, Transforming Neighborhoods Initiatives Program

Summary of Responsibilities:
This position works under the supervision the Director (or his/her designee) Learning School Mental Health Program. The School Mental Health Therapist/Intern provides clinical services to assigned clients within his or her assigned school based office or in the school building. Services may include: clinical assessments; treatment planning; individual, family, play and group psychotherapy/counseling; crisis intervention; consultation to teachers, administrators, and other school personnel; maintenance of medical records and documentation; and development of summer or after school therapeutic programming. The School Mental Health Therapist/Intern attends all required meetings as well as in-service education Transforming Neighborhoods Initiatives in Prince George’s County and Family Services, Inc.. The School Mental Health Therapist/Intern is expected to extend his or her hours, as needed, one late afternoon or evening per week to accommodate the schedules of parents to facilitate family therapy and parent education.
Responsibilities:

  1. Provides clinical assessment and treatment services to assigned clients. These services
    may include:
    a. Clinical assessments b. Treatment planning c. Individual psychotherapy / counseling d. Family psychotherapy / counseling e. Group psychotherapy / counseling f. Crisis intervention /safety planning g. Treatment monitoring, evaluation, termination, and referral h. Consultation and collaboration with teachers and other school personnel. i. Development of Summer Therapeutic Activity Programs.
  2. Maintains demonstrated proficiency in child oriented psychotherapies and childhood
    disorders by submitting documentation of continuing education in this area.
  3. Maintains at least the required minimum caseloads and productivity requirements of
    Transforming Neighborhoods Initiatives in Prince George’s County, as interpreted by our County Contract Monitor.
  4. Completes all required documentation in a timely manner and ensures maintenance of complete clinical record at all times for each assigned client as directed by OMHC policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
    a. Obtaining necessary insurance validations and authorizations for services for
    assigned clients within required timelines b. Completing clinical psychosocial assessments for each new client within
    required timelines and updating assessments on an annual basis c. Completing initial and subsequent Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs) within
    required timelines d. Documenting and filing progress notes within 24 hours of each psychotherapy /
    counseling session e. Obtaining and maintaining accurate client personal data, consents, and relevant
    collateral documentation f. Completing accurate and timely billing tickets for each billable service
    delivered g. Responding to failed appointments by clients with documented outreach and/or
    timely notification of discharge h. Completing all required discharge documentation within required timelines i. Maintaining all assigned client mental health charts at all times in good and
    complete order.
  5. If not licensed at the clinical level (LCSW-C or LCPC), participates in weekly
    individual or group supervision with assigned clinically-licensed supervisor.
  6. Attends and/or obtains minutes of weekly staff meetings to remain abreast of program
    issues, policy and procedure changes, and training content.
  7. Participates in agency required meetings and in-service programs.
  8. Completes required agency reports.
  9. Completes on-call duty as assigned.
  10. Performs all duties in compliance with OMHC policies and procedures and with State
    of Maryland COMAR 10.21 Regulations.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Maintains any one of the following licenses in good standing in the State of Maryland: Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C), Licensed Certified Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), or Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC).

Compensation: Compensation for all work performed is in accordance with the “Compensation Fee Schedule” and annual performance evaluations.
