This year, Nonprofit Montgomery continued strengthening our nonprofit community through learning opportunities, advocacy, and collaboration. Some of the highlights included:
Hosting ten Power Hour networking events, connecting hundreds of nonprofit and business leaders to build partnerships and share resources.
Continuing dialogue on the State of Nonprofits in Montgomery County recommendations through ten Community Conversations, sponsored by CareFirst.
Holding the second annual Tools To Thrive conference, attracting a record 150+ attendees with 9 learning sessions, an exhibitor fair, and remarks from Congressman Jamie Raskin, County Executive Marc Elrich, and Senator Cheryl Kagan.
Launching the first Tech Cafe, helping nonprofits adopt emerging technology and AI tools.
Celebrating graduates of the MORE (Metrics, Outcomes, and Responsible Evaluation) program and marking over a decade of FIRM (Financial Institute for Reporting and Management), advancing nonprofit leadership and organizational excellence.
On the advocacy front, Nonprofit Montgomery continued to advocate for stronger investments in the nonprofit sector, successfully urging the County Council to increase the County Executive’s recommended inflationary adjustment to 3.5%.
We also released a Federal Impact supplement to our 2025 State of Nonprofits Report outlining the impacts local nonprofits are experiencing as a result of federal administrative actions. That report, paired with coordinated advocacy efforts, contributed to two special appropriations totaling nearly $10 million in additional nonprofit funding support.
During election season, we also hosted more than 30 candidate conversations, ensuring nonprofit voices remained part of the public dialogue.
If you are already a member, thank you for your continued investment in a stronger nonprofit sector and a stronger Montgomery County. If you are not yet a member, we invite you to join us.
