2026 Maryland Primary – The Countdown Is On!

June 23, 2026, marks the next Maryland Primary Election — and the work began over a year ago. Every four years, Nonprofit Montgomery mobilizes the power of the nonprofit sector to engage in the electoral process. As a vital part of our democracy, nonprofits could and should participate in nonpartisan civic engagement — and we were here to help them do just that.

During the election season, Nonprofit Montgomery hosted over 25 candidate conversations with County Council, Board of Education, and County Executive candidates, which helped elevate nonprofit priorities and encouraged informed community dialogue.

Over the past year, Nonprofit Montgomery has:

• Educated nonprofit leaders on how to engage legally and effectively in the election;

• Hosted informational sessions with Montgomery County candidates; and

• Presented a series of County Executive Candidate Conversations to elevate the issues that mattered most to our sector.

• Invited all County Council and County Executive candidates to complete a short questionnaire reflecting on their personal and professional experience with nonprofits, as well as their vision for the future of Montgomery County.
