What's Ahead This Fall
Just like the changing of the seasons, Nonprofit Montgomery is evolving and changing to continue meeting the needs of our nonprofit community and creating more opportunities for expanding capacity and deepening collaboration.
The Nonprofit Montgomery team is very excited for the year ahead and thrilled to share that Nonprofit Montgomery is a recipient of two of Montgomery County’s FY26 Nonprofit Strategic Planning Grants! Administered by the Montgomery County Office of Grants Management, these grants support local organizations in building operational roadmaps, navigating organizational consolidations, and implementing long-term resilience initiatives. Receiving this support is both an honor and a vital opportunity to reenergize our mission to strengthen, connect, and advocate for the nonprofit sector across our region.
Building directly on our recent Systems Thinking, Systems Changing™ workshop, facilitated by Wendie Veloz Enterprises and Cairn Guidance and attended by over 70 nonprofit leaders, funders, and elected officials, this funding allows us to translate big-picture organizational concepts into everyday continuous improvement. Rather than relying on temporary fixes, we are using this opportunity to refine our operational strategy, streamline internal processes, and build sustainable frameworks that keep our organization agile, effective, and deeply responsive to changing community needs.
Strengthening our strategic roadmap enhances our capacity to deliver high-impact technical assistance, lead local advocacy efforts, and foster deep cross-sector collaboration across Montgomery County. We are deeply grateful to the County Executive, the County Council, and the Office of Grants Management for believing in our work, and look forward to partnering with all of you as we build a more resilient future together.
This fall, we are also excited to launch two new series: our Cybersecurity Essentials Lunch and Learn Series and our new Finance Strategy Series. As part of our commitment to serving our nonprofit community in the best way possible, we are refreshing our Financial Management Institute (FIRM) program to better meet the evolving needs of nonprofit leaders. Our new Strategic Nonprofit Finance Series led by Justin Pollock of OrgForward builds on the foundation of FIRM while offering a deeper focus on financial leadership, strategy, and long term sustainability.
